When they aren’t gracing the pages of Vertical magazine, the instructors at Metamorphosis: Mind, Body and Pole can sometimes be seen illuminating the stage at Cirque du Soleil, sashaying in Usher videos, or bringing the aerial arts into living rooms nationwide on HBO and American Idol. All of this positive press comes as no surprise to owner Blue Britt, the Xpert-certified pole instructor who founded Metamorphosis as an empowering haven for women to rediscover their sensuality and reshape their bodies. Along with these pros, she leads a variety of classes for students of all skill levels, ranging from intro and advanced pole dancing to lessons with aerial hoops and silks. Instructors also hold Pump Camp, which sends students strutting through routines in confidence-boosting heels.
Servando Dominguez and his team of certified trainers hold indoor and outdoor workout routines seven days a week. During each four-part session, trainers spend less than an hour guiding students through cardio exercises while thoroughly explaining each movement to prevent injuries. In addition, Servando's team provides three different nutrition plans and online access to Fitness Magazine. They also encourage students to persevere by way of emails, text messages, and smoke signals. Pep talks escalate to tangible incentives with Servando's body-fat contest, which rewards faithful participants with prizes such as cash, photo shoots, and massages. Servando's confidence in his program is reflected in his satisfaction guarantee—should participants follow the program for 30 days and not see results, they will receive a full refund.
Show Me the Fitness Boot Camp's certified personal trainer, Eduardo Dias, distills more than 15 years of fitness experience and an infectious enthusiasm for exercise into one-hour boot-camp classes. Participants gather in the verdant confines of South Weddington Park for morning or evening sessions in which Eduardo motivates students through the dynamic routines with positivism and camaraderie, rather than intimidating groups into participation the way many boot-camp instructors do—by throwing daggers. He guides the campers through fat-liquidating moves with jump ropes and weighted balls, as well as resistance and core training, which aim to tighten muscles and chisel physiques.
Feel The Burn Bootcamp’s fitness instructors show their clients what people mean by “a good kind of burn.” They know that a truly successful workout pushes muscles, whereas ineffective exercises do not. To ensure bodies get their due, instructors host daily outdoor classes with varying exercises to engage every muscle in the body. One minute they encourage clients to do as many bicycle crunches they can. The next, they lead them through rows of tires, the most common obstacle encountered while walking on a sidewalk. This denial of monotony keeps minds engaged and muscles continually bending, pulling, and building strength throughout each class.
