Helmed by world-class surfer, instructor, and photographer Tom English, Aloha Stand Up Paddle's crew outfits aquatic adventurers with quality rental boards and professional instruction in the art of staying afloat. During introductory lessons, students gain semi-private coaching and all necessary equipment on the scenic Agua Hedionda lagoon. While perched atop wide and stable floaters, students develop both the confidence and core musculature needed to balance atop boards. Two-hour sessions conclude with a wealth of personal tips from Tom as well as a series of digital photographs for studying proper form and showing off to friends. One-day and one-week rentals afford paddlers the opportunity to explore the waterfront, exercise, and shake hands with passing jesus lizards.
Aloha Stand Up Paddle
Tom English is more than a stand-up paddleboarding instructor. He’s also a surfer, a photographer, and a dog chauffeur—he often paddles with his trusty hound, Elvis, on his board. At Aloha Stand Up Paddle, Tom imparts his skills during private, semi-private, and group lessons, teaching students to safely mount and steer a paddleboard. He also sells and rents assorted boarding equipment, such as “The Machete” paddleboard by Riviera, which comes with a 10-foot-long hip scabbard.
