Held at FigAt7th downtown or Space 15 Twenty in Hollywood, the social tasting events feature 10–12 producers sharing ideas, concepts, and information about wine. Visitors can also sample gourmet cheeses at all of the events. No other food will be provided, so participants are encouraged to visit one of FigAt7th's various eateries or Umami Burger at Space 15 Twenty. Each SummerTaste event also features DJ music by Dan Wilcox of KCRW, along with educational tables, blind tastings, and name-the-grape contests. Events run semimonthly on Wednesdays from 6:30 p.m. to 9 p.m.
These social events are meant to give participants a chance to exercise nascent tasting skills; those interested in deepening their enological knowledge are encouraged to enroll in Learn About Wine's formal tasting classes.
Learn About Wine
With a mission to educate consumers on the mystifying subtleties of wine, Learn About Wine hosts more than 100 classes, trade tastings, and consumer events each year. Since its beginnings in 1995, the organization has helped more than 50,000 students deepen their appreciation and understanding of the old-world drink through socially centered programs and refined, but approachable wine-education classes. Wine Camp – An Introduction to Wine, the company's introductory course and one of its most popular offerings, encourages guests to absorb wine-drinking terminology and critical lessons in storing and serving. Regional tours lead groups through various growing regions, allowing visitors to observe processes such as fermenting and picking bottles at the peak of glossiness.
