"St. Practice Day" at Vintage House

Like a pot of gold spilling coins over the brim, Vintage House's "St. Practice Day" celebration is too bountiful to be enjoyed by just one leprechaun. So they've opened the floodgates to the masses for two days of St. Patty's-themed revelry. The beer starts flowing on Saturday, March 15, or "St. Practice Day," a seven-hour celebration stacked with beer, karaoke, and take-home goodies such as t-shirts and pint glasses. Keeping spirits high throughout the celebration, Detroit's own DJ Chrome and DJ Roc Boy—who boasts experience soundtracking shows for MTV Networks—spin danceable tunes. The Detroit-based group, Priceless Live also joins mix.

Then on March 17, St. Patrick's Day proper, VIP attendees are invited back at 6 a.m. to enjoy O'Hara's corned-beef sandwiches, plentiful pints, and a complimentary breakfast buffet. The indoor-outdoor celebration spans three banquet rooms and two big heated tents that will melt any snowmen trying to find out whether the beer is frostier than they are.

Royal Oak Taste Fest

Per its name, Royal Oak Taste Fest celebrates some of the best local cuisine as well as the chefs behind each food sample on offer. But that might be the only traditional thing about this event. The dishes here hail from the Middle East, Mexico, Italy, and just about everywhere in between. In some ways, it's a Taste of Everywhere—except Greenland, where people only ever eat ice.

The festival extends beyond food too, showcasing art from local retailers and crafters, as well as musicians whose live shows add the soundtrack to the day.
