Planes of Fame Air Museum was simply dubbed “The Air Museum” when it was founded in 1957—as the only museum of its kind west of the Mississippi, it had no need for a more specific moniker. More than 50 years later, it now boasts a stock of more than 150 airplanes and displays, including many aircraft that are the only flying examples of their type in the world including the N9MB Flying Wing and the P 26 Pea Shooter. Patrons can also explore an array of exhibits and aircraft that trace aviation’s history from the Chanute Hang Glider in 1896 to sophisticated modern-day planes.
A working cattle ranch set on more than 350 acres of hilly terrain, Heaven's Ranch invites visitors to enjoy such equine entertainment as lessons and scenic rides through a vast network of trails. An experienced staff oversees operation of the facilities, including two large round pens and two outdoor training arenas. The 100'x100' and 100'x180' arenas give beginning and intermediate students plenty of space to learn at their own pace during lessons. Riding instructors Annee and Laura guide their classes through challenges, which aim to foster confidence and comfort. Instruction is tailored to riders' individual goals, whether they want to take a casual weekend ride or find a dramatic way to escort their date to prom.
The Santa Ana Canyon and views of the Cleveland National Park surround Talking Horse Riding Stables.Belgian draft horses, and steeds for riders of all skill-level ferry equestrians past cattle pastures and scenic gullies during trail rides. Guides ask that all students wear long pants and closed-toed shoes in case the horse has a tendency to nibble.
A night at Chaparral Entertainment Centers means more than just a few games of bowling—with its up to 48 shining lanes are the main attraction. The alley's lounge hosts live music on Friday and Saturday nights, so bowlers can jam out to a band, karaoke, or a DJ, who might accept requests for "We Are the Champions" after every strike. There's also a big-screen TVs, six pool tables, shuffle board, darts, and an arcade in the lounge. At a full-service snack bar, bowlers can order appetizers to tide them over between frames, and they can choose from up to 44 beers on tap, wine, and liquor.
