Inside Rock Fitness’s recently constructed 20,000-square-foot facility, jagged and slanted walls brandish holds that climbers uses to scale upward while attached to safety harnesses. The indoor rock-climbing course features surfaces for low-altitude bouldering and roped routes that ensure safe climbing all the way to tops of Rock Fitness’s towering walls. Special packages for beginners include belay lessons, day passes, and all the necessary rental equipment, such as harnesses, chalk bags, and belaying devices. The facility, which is open 24 hours a day, also houses a basketball and volleyball gym and hosts a variety of fitness classes, including Zumba, yoga, and kickboxing.
Charles Dao has gained success as a physical trainer by following the rule that the body and mind need to be trained to work in tandem. He and his team focus on conditioning students, teaching them to efficiently use their bodies and to analyze the science behind each movement during the fun, energetic, and challenging sessions. By syncing the brain with physical training, athletes can learn which muscles to engage for faster sprints and greater flexibility. The iCON Sports Alliance staff also offers a variety of services such as youth sports training, hot yoga, and physical therapy.

Exercise is challenging, and people frequently give up on their fitness routines. How do you keep clients motivated?
We have a fun social environment. I like to do a lot of team and group exercises which helps everyone motivate each other. I try to bring a healthy snack with recipe to share with the group after class. They all love that.
Besides working out, what else can clients do to spend their time at your facility?
Enjoy being outdoors and making new friends.
What is a typical session of your program or class like for a student?
We do a warm up with a run or jump rope, then dive into functional training. We rotate between exercises. No two classes are the same, so you never get bored and you keep your muscles guessing. We will work your entire body with a focus on core and stability training.
The path of a talented high-school athlete is difficult to navigate, full of internal and external challenges to success. Prodigy Athletes provides athletic and emotional mentorship so that students can capitalize on their potential and avoid pitfalls such as the high drop-out rates and character issues that hinder success on a collegiate level. Troy Keali’i Lau—founder of the UCLA Mentorship program—carries on his mission of guidance at Prodigy, where student athletes are challenged physically and held accountable for their actions in a supportive environment. Training programs hone on-the-field skills, and tutoring programs help them gear up academically. Prodigy also works as an intermediary during the recruiting process, providing college visits free of charge and hosting showcases where students display their skills in front of college coaches and well-connected tackling dummies.
To excel as an athlete requires a special blend of skills: agility, speed, strength, and—perhaps most importantly—body awareness. Bellab of bellab fitness knows this perhaps better than anyone, since she's a former D1 college soccer player and national Major Beach Soccer champion. That's why her Kickstart program caters solely to athletes. But the fitness training regime works on athletes as individuals and part of teams, sharpening their accuracy and strength as well as their mental awareness. And for the average exerciser, Bellab offers boot camp and personal training.
Excuses aren’t an option at From Flab 2 Fab Fitness, where experienced trainers create programs that aim to accommodate as many personalities and schedules as possible. Group boot-camp classes take form in both adult sessions and Mommy & Me workouts, where mothers can bring along and engage kids aged 2 months to 4 years. The trainers' running classes are goal-oriented to help pupils achieve milestones, be they 1 mile or 5 kilometers. For DIY types, they fashion online programs, which include custom workout plans, weekly phone consultations, and meal planning for the whole family.
