really felt comfortable with the group... very welcoming and enthusiastic...
Good instructors, venue is OK, class environment is not so great.
The lessons are very fast-paced so I was able to only become acquainted with the dance moves (Charleston, Lindy Hop, Balboa).
The venue (Avalon) is OK. Wood dance floor, large open area. The A/C is set at 85 deg F, so it's a bit like a Bikram yoga studio.
There are approximately 50 students per session. The group would split up into 3 sections, each in a different corner of the ballroom. Lots of noise, unable to hear instructors very well.
Bottom line: this is a good way to become acquainted with swing dance, but don't expect to learn much given the environment and class structure.
What a genuinely fun experience! Great teachers-we are very hesitant beginners and they made the whole class feel comfortable. Looking forward to our next lessons!
A fun-filled evening of great dance instruction followed by an opportunity to practice. A wonderful Groupon experience.
Fun Lindy Hop lesson and dance. Plan to go more when I can.
We are enjoying the lessons, however - not thrilled about the switching partner approach. We think it would be more appropriate to do that on the intermediate level. We feel it makes learning the dance a slower process by switching partners at the beginner level.
We just had our first class and it was so much fun. The instructors were great. The whole class had a blast. I would recommend trying this place out.
Awesome first class...looking forward to more!!
Steve and our teacher (for my gf and I) are excellent, funny and very helpful. They move along at a very nice pace and class gives me something to look forward to on a Monday! I will certainly continue to take classes with them in the future. -Jake

For the instructors at Boulder Swing Dance, their passion fuels their career. Each of them is a professional dancer, and many of them have collected awards in competitions. They funnel all their experience and enthusiasm into each dance lesson, always shaking to spread their passion for the art form. They start small, breaking down complex lindy hop, charleston, balboa, and swing moves into simple steps and rhythm patterns that single students and couples of all abilities can retain and perform. As their students progress, instructors incorporate more than just steps, encouraging students to break out of their shells and express their own playfulness and musicality by customizing each step. Students can also practice their new moves at weekly dance parties, where they can boogie down and perform high-energy swivels in a judgment-free environment.
