In the late 1960s, Lewis Grant sought out a plot of land in the Rocky Mountain foothills to grow his own vegetables. He brought along the wisdom he accrued during a career as a university professor and his son, Andy, to help with the humble undertaking. The duo took to tilling the land, and over the next few decades, Andy expanded his father’s plot to the 2,200 acres that currently make up the Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) organic farm.
Heading a farming community with more than 4,500 members, a dedicated staff of educators and farmers cultivate the farm’s pasture-raised livestock and more than 150 breeds of organic vegetables such as squash, herbs, and 34 varieties of heirloom beans and corn. Additionally, the staff gives visitors a hands-on education about the nitty-gritty of farm operations during tours and field trips, and they offer a variety of produce-related classes on topics such as canning, fermenting, and mixology.
What services does your business offer and what makes your business stand out from the competition?

What was the inspiration to start or run this business?
My grandma Jane was my closest family member, and I watched how her various assistants started by cleaning for her and then helped her stay in her home by running errands, shopping, cooking & everything else. (I also saw what drove her nuts about them!) They comforted her & enabled her independence.
What do you love most about your job?
I worked as a paralegal in law firms for just under 20 years while I raised my children. It provided the greatest business training, and now I am enjoying the flexibility of being able to help more than just a handful of people from the same desk every week. It allows me to connect with people!
What is the best reaction you've ever gotten from a customer?
The best one recently was during the great snow storm in March 2016. Even though we had 18" of snow the first morning, I had my customer, Mike S. to his medical appointment across town, on time. Due to other cancellations that day, he was able to move up his eye surgery, & he called me a lifesaver!
