  • NYY Steak
Each day the lights flicker on, illuminating a grand space that stretches up three levels. Framed photos of Babe Ruth, Mickey Mantle, and Mariano Rivera loom larger than life, and an accent wall bears the signatures of no less than 86 baseball legends. It's not Yankee Stadium, but it doesn't feel too far off—it's NYY Steak, the midtown Manhattan outpost of an eatery born inside the Bronx Bombers' home. Forget any preconceived notions of what a sports-themed restaurant is supposed to be: NYY Steak's atmosphere exudes the type of elegance you'd expect from a team that wears pinstripes into battle. Navy seats flank tables dressed in white linens, while the pristinely-plated cuisine arrives on plates stamped with the numbers of iconic Yankees players. Yet the refined presentation is not without playful touches, such as the home-plate-shaped dishes that cradle sides such as garlic mashed potatoes and button mushrooms. Of course, the real star of the show is not NYY Steak's decor, but its menu of USDA Prime steaks. Specialities of the house include a 27-ounce long bone rib eye that honors the Yanks 27 World Series victories, the bone of which may be monogrammed for special occasions. Other sumptuous dishes include whole Maine lobster and short-rib ragu, all prepared by a culinary team overseen by a 14-year veteran of Delmonico's.

  • Delmonico's Restaurant Group
Delmonico's Restaurant, the original, opened its doors to Manhattanites in 1827, bringing to the city's dining scene many firsts. The eatery offered the first private dining rooms, and the first baked alaska and steakburgers to enjoy therein. It has, according to the Wall Street Journal, remained an eatery favored by executives and traders looking for a bit of red meat between workdays. It's smaller cousin, Delmonico's Kitchen, provides similar dishes for a more casual crowd in Midtown. Delmonico's Kitchen's chefs prepare plenty of the same classics to be found at their parent restaurant, including the 40-ounce vintage porterhouse steak for two or the DK Double Burger, a slight re-imagining of the original 1834 steak burger. The main difference between the two locations, in fact, lies more in preparation. The Kitchen sources its food from local growers and organic farms, using the seasonality of ingredients to add some unexpected twists to classic Delmonico's dishes.

  • Philly Cheesesteak House
At its simplest, a cheesesteak only requires three ingredients: steak, cheese, and bread. But the grill masters at Philly Cheesesteak House aren't interested in supplying just the basics. Nineteen toppings, from cooked onions and sweet peppers to Cheez Whiz, can flavor the 6- and 10-inch subs. The sandwiches are part of the House's all-day lunch menu, whose cheesesteak alternatives include veggie burgers and chicken fingers paired with honey mustard. The breakfast menu's omelets are also available from open to close, and an extensive dinner menu ends each day with entrees such as pasta platters and seafood paella for two.

  • Tender Restaurant
A new dining addition to the Sanctuary Hotel, Tender is an upscale contemporary American restaurant with a menu designed by renowned Chef Edward Purnomo. The steak menu features four cuts that range in both size and style, from a petite 8-ounce filet to a formidable 20-ounce porterhouse. Though seafood is a natural complement to steaks, Tender presents that pairing in an unexpected way, thanks to Executive Sushi Chef Edwin Purnomo. He custom-curates 10- and 15-piece omakase selections, as well as specialty rolls such as the Pink Panther with king crab and cucumber. The chefs present a few traditional seafood dishes as well, including a scallop risotto that Gotham magazine said was "cooked to a perfect al dente...comfort at its finest."
