For 28 years, Elise Porter-Dean had the luxury of not needing to make time for exercise. She was a dancer, after all. But after she took her last bow, she discovered how difficult it could be to find an engaging workout. She tried running around the block, joining a gym, and even taking yoga classes, but nothing interested her long enough to make a physical difference. At her boutique studio, barre revolution, Elise works with a staff of talented instructors to lead five styles of fitness classes. The main barre rev workouts feature a traditional mix of Pilates, yoga, and ballet barre exercises that tone and tighten muscles, burn calories, and boost strength and flexibility. Branching off of that workout are Kelsie's rev yoga classes, cardio barre, rev stretch, and barre lite, an intro class great for beginners. Most of the barre exercises are low-impact and can be modified to accommodate past injuries or body concerns.
