The café's menu blends Filipino and classic deli items into a variety of choices such as marinated pork, beef, or sausage in fried rice with eggs ($6.25), breakfast burritos ($5.25), pastrami and tuna sandwiches on sourdough ($3.25–$5.25), caesar ($5.25) and cobb salads ($5.95), customizable burgers ($3.50+), and grilled Cuban-style sandwiches ($5.99). A meal constitutes any food choice up to a $7.50 value.

Rumbar Plaza Cafe

Rumbar Plaza Cafe's ample menu augments the selections of a classic American deli with Filipino flavors. Breakfast burritos, normally the territory of eggs, cheese, bacon, and hungry bachelors, get a dose of tapsilog and tocilog—Filipino blends of marinated beef or pork with garlic-fried rice and fried eggs. The kitchen team also whips up combo plates with menudo, pork, chicken adobo, beef caldereta, or dinuguan, as well as traditional caesar salads, reubens, and tuscan turkey sandwiches, the sandwiches most likely to be leaning at a seemingly impossible angle. In addition to wraps, chicken wings, palabok, and sisig, Rumbar also serves beer and wine, hosts Friday-night karaoke, takes pick-up orders, and provides catering for 100 guests or more.

The Groupon Guide to: Building a Fort in Your Apartment

Hey, just because you’re an adult doesn’t mean you can’t have some good, old-fashioned fun. Ignore the fact that your grandfather had already fought in a war and fathered two children and gotten three promotions by your age and enjoy these tips for building a fort in your apartment:

• Clear out some space for the fort that you, an adult, are building. This means clearing away the any of the following instruments from the common room: replica Paul McCartney Hofner bass, ukulele, Professor Learning’s Toddler Xylophone, three theremins, and $1,500 Moog synthesizer that no one could figure out.

• You’re going to need some bedding. There should be a pile of it on your mattress, which is on the floor and not a bed frame.

• Get permission to co-opt the space with a fun, fun fort. Since you live with fellow cool people and not a family, it should not be a problem.

• Drape some blankets over a lamp or stick. Do this instead of updating your resumé or working on the painting you started 11 months ago when you heard your calling.

• Put a picture of the fort on the Internet!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The Internet is the night sky into which we yell that we are alive. It does not answer back.

  • The chicken adobo and pancit were delicious...I've had chicken adobo many times before, but I have to admit this was one of the best I've tasted.
