My son and I completed a Concealed Carry License (CCL) class today and was extremely impressed with the quality of instruction and the overall experience. The class was thorough, informative, and well-organized, making it ideal for both beginners and those with previous firearm experience.Funny story it all started when my son wanted to learn shooting guns so we went to visit and inquire at a shooting range near us and was told that somebody adult and licensed have to accompany my son to shoot there and was told that the adult must take a class called CCL ,I have no experience or held a gun in my life… I looked thru google and found classes on Groupon and chose to go to Illinois Public Safety Group at Palos Hills . I thought that it would be very useful for my 15 y/o son so I included and signed him up for class too , I didn’t expected my son to sit thru whole class all the way, lead instructor Chris LaPash kept my son very engaged the whole two days, my son enjoyed it and learned a lot.I got nervous for second day coz I didnt know that day 2 is the actual ,actual qualification test, on qual test I decided to wear my contacts, my contact wasn’t too clear for me in range when I was shooting , it was going good at start for me but the glock malfunctioned and brass fell on my right cheek near my right eye ,so my confidence level went down and got distracted but Chris was there fast and was very calm guiding me , all instructors were looking out for all of us for our safety.I was glad to pass it😥.
The instructor was knowledgeable, patient, and emphasized safety at every step. They did an excellent job explaining the legal responsibilities of carrying a concealed firearm, including state-specific laws, proper firearm handling, and situational awareness. The use-of-force laws and The classroom portion was engaging, and the materials provided were clear and easy to follow. When it came to the range portion, the instructor ensured that everyone felt comfortable and confident, regardless of experience level. They took time and made sure safety protocols were followed at all times.
By the end of the course, I felt fully informed, better prepared, and more confident in my ability to carry responsibly. This class is a must for anyone considering concealed carry — not just to meet legal requirements, but to truly understand what responsible gun ownership entails.
Highly recommended for anyone serious about safety, education, and protecting their rights the right way.
