What services does your business offer and what makes your business stand out from the competition?
I received my bachelor of science in kinesiology in 2013 and have four years of professional experience as a trainer. I have a background in physical therapy. I will help you fix muscular imbalances, as well as create meal plans. I not only have the knowledge, but also 10 years of real-world experience doing and living it.
Exercise is challenging. How do you keep clients motivated and engaged?
I will be your pillar of strength when you need it. I lead by example, and my mentality is contagious. Once I help you raise your standards, I will help you change your life.
What was the inspiration to start or run this business?
We are currently in a nationwide health crisis where heart disease is the No. 1 cause of death and it is lifestyle related. I believe that I can impact people's lives, and eventually nationwide, to help eradicate this disease.
What do you love most about your job?
I believe that everybody has great potential. Whether people believe they do is solely dependent on the story they tell themselves. I love making a difference in someone's life and raising their standards. Seeing my clients happy makes me happy.
The coaches at CrossFit Modern encourage senior citizens and professional athletes to perform the same exercises. That may sound impossible, but it actually speaks to a core tenet of CrossFit as a sport. Every exercise they lead during a given Workout of the Day (WOD) is scalable, meaning each participant is doing the same exercise, just adjusted for duration or load in accordance with his or her fitness level. Ultimately, the coaches ask only that their charges push themselves and one another through the varied exercises to reap long-term benefits such as increased strength, flexibility, and endurance. And to stave off boredom, their high-intensity routines are never the same. For example, one day, they might motivate students to do push-ups and pull-ups, and the next, they might encourage them to dead lift weights and toss medicine balls, which is known to cure the common cold.
The trainers complement CrossFit training with programs such as yoga and CardioFit.
The group dynamic of a boot camp fitness class can help keep classmates motivated. S&J Fitness and Kickboxing takes this concept a step further with its playdate fitness: parents can bring their kids with them to fitness class and drop them off for supervised active play at the company's outdoor jungle gym. Afterwards, the adults can join their own fitness class led by an expert instructor. It's a great way for adults and kids to appreciate fitness, and it's just one of many class offerings at S&J Fitness and Kickboxing. The non-military style boot camp combines the rapid strength-building of boot camps with the techniques and skills of kickboxing. Instructors can also help volleyball athletes and aspiring kangaroo impersonators with vertical jump training.

At OC Fitness Boot Camp, exercise isn’t just about summoning an instant endorphin rush or fitting into a smaller pair of jeans a few weeks down the line. It’s about helping people live longer, healthier lives. Held at scenic parks and beaches, workouts help participants cultivate a love of fitness that endures when life throws them a curveball or a water balloon filled with chocolate pudding. Here, participants of all fitness levels cheer one another toward goals during strength-building exercises such as burpees, squats, push-ups, and sit-up variations. In addition to torching calories, running and jumping drills fill the group with energy, like a pep rally led by anthropomorphic lightning bolts. A seasoned instructor oversees each camper, doling out exercise demos, technique tips, and a hearty dose of motivation.
