  • Kart 2 Kart
The 300-foot straightaway comes to an end in one of six wheel-testing curves. The Honda 6.5-horsepower engine hums in anticipation. The moment foot touches pedal, hydraulic brakes give their answer and the racing wheels cling to the textured concrete as the go-kart deftly whips through the turn. Coming up on the end of an eight-minute streak of adrenaline, racers zip past the final stretch of the 1/5-mile race track, tearing ahead of each other as the computerized timing system clocks each score to fuel future bragging rights and rematch challenges. From Kart 2 Kart's café and bar, applause rises as family, friends, and opponents sizing up the competition send their appreciation down to the track, which they've been watching as they nosh on a selection of snacks and beverages. Juniors, meanwhile, wait their turn to hit the blacktop in age-appropriate Formula-K karts. Before strapping in, all racers receive instruction and a safety lesson, during which they learn how to operate the equipment, then strive to set records that can earn them a spot on the website's scoreboard.

  • Marvin's Marvelous Mechanical Museum
An animatronic tarot-card reader spells out fortunes. Directly next to her, an antique arcade game measures the romantic intensity of anyone who takes hold of its metallic joystick. This is but a small slice of what’s in store at this museum, home to “thousands of mechanical games and one-of-a-kind collectibles.” Admission is free, though many games require coins to play.

  • Adventure Park in West Bloomfield
The 5 acres seem like a normal forest?that is until you look up. Nestled amongst the treetops are ziplines, bridges, ropes, and other obstacles, all connected by various cables and more than 100 wooden platforms. This is Adventure Park in West Bloomfield: an aerial forest attraction where visitors 5 years of age and older zip, traipse, and climb through treetop canopies. Ten trails stretch in different directions, presenting visitors with difficulty levels from yellow (the most basic) to double black (for the most squirrel-like). The treetop routes were designed to facilitate self-discovery; though some guides are available for hire, most people explore and conquer the challenges on their own. To ensure safety, a double-connected climbing system stays locked in at all times.

  • Sport N Fun
Putting requires intense concentration, which is especially difficult when you have an elephant standing over your shoulder. At Sport-N-Fun, miniature golfers putt their way through three 18-hole courses adorned with statues of exotic wildlife such as gorillas and giraffes. These distractions are one of the many obstacles on the terrain, where bank shots and undulating hills stand between players and holes-in-one. Sport-N-Fun's other exhilarating Activities likewise vie for visitors' attention. Thrill-seekers zip around the curves and down the straightaways of the Go-Kart track, or leap skyward while securely harnessed on the bungee trampoline. In 7 batting cages, machines pitch balls toward batters at speeds of up to 85 miles per hour, offering hard ball or soft ball and a range of speeds for different skill levels. Inside, classic games blip and bleep as players frantically tap arcade buttons. Amidst all the action, GG's Pizza renews energy with servings of Pizza and Fountain Drinks.

  • Bounce House
The name does little justice to what's inside; Bounce House doesn't just have one house, but a neighborhood of inflatable structures. Kids whizz down towering slides and help each other clamber through air-filled obstacle courses, while moonwalks sit side-by-side, forming a colorful neighborhood-scape. Though grownups aren't allowed inside the bouncy structures, they can enjoy the arcade, whose free-play games take no tokens nor banana chips.
