Personal trainer Yvonne Mo founded Move Adventures after noticing that when temperatures rose across the city, her clients kept asking her to train outdoors instead of staying cooped up in gyms. When she realized that her clients could get the same full-body workouts from gym machines while hiking and climbing rock walls, she assembled a team from all sorts of fitness backgrounds to lead out-of-city hikes and circuit workouts in idyllic locales. An excursion at Bear Mountain—less than an hour from Manhattan—combines hiking with circuit-training techniques such as pushups, lunges, burpees, and sprints.
Every weekend, excursions start at 9 a.m. at the meeting point at Columbus Circle, and return by 2 p.m. The experiences take clients to workouts along the Appalachian Trail, and include roundtrip transportation by van and free snacks.
