The path to fitness isn't one you have to walk alone. At Peak Body Fitness, you'll be surrounded by a community of instructors and students, each devoted to giving one another the support and motivation needed to reach their workout goals. However, this one-on-one attention is only one part of the equation—you'll also build lean muscle mass, endurance, and enough flexibility to lick the back of your head with the help of the gym's two exercise regimens. Read on to learn more about each class:
Cardio kickboxing: Inspired by the kicks, punches, and strikes of kickboxing, these classes focus on burning calories and increasing dexterity. Sessions generally incorporate two segments: rhythm cardio work that harnesses the power of repetition, and heavy-bag sessions that build muscle and stamina through full-power strikes and kicks.
Strength training: Resistance bands and kettle bells are the tools of choice at Peak Body Fitness's 45-minute strength-training classes. Joining them are circuit-training drills full of plyometrics—hops, jumps, and lateral movements that build muscle and balance at the same time.

After experiencing the frustration that comes when workout results plateau and the cost of personal trainers seems prohibitive, Melody Chandler decided to become a personal trainer herself. Her goal: to help those just like her find a results-driven, empowering, and affordable solution. She shed the extra pounds that came along with hypothyroidism and four pregnancies, became a nationally-certified AFAA personal trainer, and founded Texas Fit Chicks to share her weight-loss strategies and support with other women.
Her all-female staff of certified personal trainers helps exercisers of all fitness levels shape their bodies during group fitness classes. In an effort to challenge muscle memory, the team shakes up workout regimens by using different techniques and equipment—including kettlebells, resistance bands, and lead sweatpants—each day. Melody’s team also helps exercisers retain their results by supplying nutrition support with meal plans and recipes that use healthy ingredients.
Austin Fit Magazine named RockBody Boot Camp its Best Boot Camp of 2011 and also lauded its owner, Brian Prinzo, as one of the city’s Top 10 Fittest Trainers in 2010. But for Brian and his staff of experienced trainers, it’s not about the accolades; it’s about helping others lose weight and reach their fitness goals. Classes eschew routine courses of treadmills and bench presses for a variety of challenging workouts that put participants through a mash-up of strength, core, cardio, and interval training designed to push them to their personal limits. Best of all, the workouts provide the motivation and accountability needed to help exercisers push past plateaus, and exercises can be tailored to accommodate many fitness levels and concerns, such as arthritis, body pain, and conjoined sweatbands.
Celebrating their 12th year in business this year, Transformation Boot Camp’s team sums up their philosophy on living in one simple phrase: “We are never done.” In that spirit, Transformation Boot Camp celebrates positivity, teamwork, and the gallons of sweat that fuel people down the path to fitness. Each boot camp begins with a body assessment that allows students to track every ounce, inch, or percentage of body fat lost. To compliment the cardio-heavy circuit training, Transformation Boot Camp offers a set of Power Tools to help each boot-camp member hit their goals, including meal planners and refrigerators that make wisecracks about unhealthy food choices. All of this explains why Transformation Boot Camp was named Living magazine's "Best Weight Loss Program in North Dallas" in 2013 and 2014.
At CrossFit South Lewisville, passionate trainers lead students of all shapes, sizes, and fitness levels through high-intensity workouts that blend gymnastics, weightlifting, and cardio to mold the body into a lithe, athletic machine. Developed by Greg Glassman in 2002, CrossFit depends on a dedicated community of followers that motivate each other through an ever-changing barrage of daily exercises. The workouts focus on functional movement and variety, steering clear of the repetitive, pointless grind of a cross-country stationary bike ride. Instructors at CrossFit South Lewisville do more than inspire their pupils to lift massive tractor tires or increase their heart rates—they welcome them into a community of fellow athletes, shaping flab into muscle with personal training, nutrition planning, and sports-specific workouts.
