  • The Holistic Body Boutique
When self-described “holistic nutritionist and healthy-life enthusiast” Barbara Baumann began travelling to health retreats and spas around the world, she was dismayed to find that very few aestheticians actually rely on natural products in their treatments. Baumann took it upon herself to study European spa practices, earning a degree in Clinical Nutrition and Detoxification and using her newfound skillset to found The Holistic Body Boutique. As its name implies, Baumann’s boutique combines her passion for aesthetics with her keen appreciation for natural, holistic healing. Today, detoxifying treatments and nutritional weight-loss programs dominate the spa’s service menu. All-natural facials, massage, and body-contouring treatments eschew preservatives and harmful additives in favour of organic ingredients that aestheticians custom-blend and apply with free-range loofahs.

  • Nails by Jacqui - Bellezza Mia Spa
Established: 2013 Reservations/Appointments: By appointment only Handicap Accessible: Yes Staff Size: 1?2 people Parking: Free street parking Minimum Age Requirement: 15 Pro Tip: Private rooms available Instead of using standard pedicure stations?black leather chairs plopped in front of a jacuzzi footbath?Nails by Jacqui does things a little differently. Patrons perch on a long white leather couch and plunge their toes into a deep footbath inlaid with cream-colored stones. Next to the footbath is a lower stone ledge decked in a vase of flowers, and in front of it lies a beige square ottoman sporting a graphic black-and-white wave pattern. The nail tech sits here while shaping nails, grooming cuticles, and swiping on vibrant polishes, including a fast-drying shellac polish, which stays chip-free for up to 14 days. In addition to mani-pedis, Nails by Jacqui offers traditional spa treatments such as massages, facials, and waxing. The staff also provides guests with permanent eyeliner and lipliner, which won't smudge no matter how often they wear a Batman mask. And for every new client, Nails by Jacqui's aestheticians perform a complimentary eyebrow shaping.

  • Avera Spa
The team at Avera Spa struck on an ingenious method for firming up faces. They combined the rejuvenating effects of a facelift with the non-surgical method of?no joke?lifting the face with their hands. The result is a wrinkle-fighting facial that's one part cleansing and one part isometric pressure. For the latter portion, the aesthetician places a hardened mask over the face that tightens muscles for a full 20 minutes and aims to boost collagen production and cell rejuvenation. The spa's other facials embody equally inventive techniques that deploy top-shelf products, including Lumi?re de Vie and Skin Dulgence. The crew applies the same spirit of natural revitalization to their manicures and pedicures. They use polishes such as Bio-Sculpture Gel that actually promotes nail strength and growth, and pamper hands and feet with add-ons that include a chamomile mint scrub, hot towel treatment, and massage.
