The whales stayed mostly asleep during our early 9am excursion, but the ride out into the water gave a beautiful view of the Monterey bay. The sun was out and despite the chill beeeze, it was a great ride.
The captain did a great job of announcing when the whales came up, their migratory patterns, and why Monterey Bay was important to them.
On our way back to shore, we came across a massive school of dolphins. We watched them surf waves out in the bay, and swim around us. The captain told us how they liked the bay because of the squid. They put on quite a show.
It was a great way to spend the morning! Worth every penny!!

Bought a Gilroy Garden Groupon for second time and after this visit we became a Premium Member for 2026. My toddler really enjoyed both of our visits: regular season visit (day) with access to the waterpark and the North Pole Lights (night). Highly recommend!
