Many New York City museums could be classified as New York City icons. The grand stone steps and columns of the Metropolitan Museum of Art are as much an image of Central Park as the New Yorkers relaxing on the adjacent Great Lawn, while the twin 1-acre pools of the 9/11 Memorial and Museum mark the indelible footprints of the World Trade Center towers.
