  • Fly Free Skydiving
Every single member of Fly Free Skydiving's large staff has gone skydiving before, even the pilots, and the most experienced instructors boast upward of 7,000 jumps. They all remember the feeling of being a beginner, though, and they cater to first-timers with their tandem-jump programs.  Such experiences begin before the plane's tires ever leave the runway. Instructors describe the experience in great detail: how the plane flies at 80 miles per hour, how maximum free fall speed is 120 miles per hour, and how, after jumping, the transition between the two speeds happens so gradually it feels like floating. Afterward, instructors and skydivers head to a Cessna 182 aircraft and zip up to higher altitudes. Once there, instructors and students, who are strapped together, take the plunge and freefall for up to 40 seconds before the teacher deploys the parachute. Because the teachers control the descent, students can simply relax and enjoy the views of the rolling hills and Mississippi River or focus their energy on trying to high-five any passing birds.

  • Sylvan Learning Center (1 MO and 2 IL)
The staff members at Sylvan Learning Center's numerous study facilities understand that each child learns differently. Therefore, they don’t try to implement a uniform tutoring system; instead, they design custom lesson programs based on the results of standardized testing, diagnostic tools, and one-on-one interviews. Tutors work with students from kindergarten through grade 12, illuminating topics ranging from basic reading and writing to remembering complex algebraic formulas without having them tattooed on your chest. Many of Sylvan’s instructors work in local schools, so they are intimately familiar with common curricula and understand how to gear lessons toward optimal results. After-school and summer classes can ready high-schoolers for the rigors of the ACT or the SAT, or they can help students to wow college-admissions officers with their superior essay-writing skills.

  • Plant Nite
Plant Nite pairs the leafy refinement of an old-fashioned garden party with the DIY spirit of your typical crafting night. Guided by one of the company's master gardeners, participants spend two hours with a trowel in one hand and a drink in the other hand-crafting their own tabletop gardens for display on counter tops, workstation, or anyplace in between. Plant Nite provides all necessary materials, including plants, colorful moss, and tiny dinosaurs, turning local bars and restaurants into high-class greenhouses along the way. Potential creations include terrariums, succulent gardens, seasonal arrangements, and more. Participants can even use their newly green thumbs to signal the bartender; wine and cocktails are available throughout the classes.
